Yesterday we finally had our Christmas Came Early event at the Finnish Institute in London. The event was organized in colloboration with Visit Finland, The Finnish institute in London and NFFC. The original idea behind the event came from Anne Laurila. The idea is to inform UK production companies who plan to shoot winter scenes in Finland of the basic facts. Like when there actually is snow in Finland, what are the temperatures (and therefore requirements for the shooting), how many hours of daylight you can expect etc. And of course we aim to forge good new contacts with these events.
I was really glad that we had quite a good turn out for en event that was organized kind of out of season and for the first time. People seemed genuinely interested in the opportunities Finland has to offer for winter shooting. Hopefully this is the first of many events of this kind.
